This presentation compares and contrasts prehospital stroke and trauma management, covering field protocols, blood pressure regulation, atypical stroke presentations ("stroke chameleons"), and optimal pharmacotherapy. An analysis of 2024 Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) stroke data, broken down by demographics, transport mode, and admission status, will be discussed. Interactive case studies will reinforce key learning points.
*This course is intended for ALS level providers. Only ALS CEU will be awarded for attendance.
In 2024, the NJ Dept. of Health expanded the scope of practice for EMT's under medical direction. One of the requirements for this, is additional training. This course serves as the in-service for Albuterol, CPAP, and PEEP for HUMC medical direction. All EMTs are welcome to attend and receive CEUs but the course will only serve as an in-service if the provider is working on a department under HUMC medical control.
Important - If you are going to serve as a training offcier or educator for your department, please plan to stay for an extra 20 mintues after class for further instruction.
